Our Vision

A future where all survivors of injustice can live liberated, safe, and healthy lives.

Our Mission

The Chicago People’s Rights Collaborative (CPRC) is a student-run clinic with a mission to provide a breadth of pro bono medical-legal services for clients seeking asylum, and detained or incarcerated individuals. Working in partnership with physicians, attorneys, and community members, CPRC advocates on behalf of survivors of mistreatment to strengthen their cases for legal protection.

As an alliance grounded in the needs of the communities we serve, we seek to bring our values of justice to bear by helping to secure safety for people who have been victimized by the social and political forces that disrupt health, freedom, and survival.

Our Story

The Chicago People’s Rights Collaborative (CPRC) is a student-run medical-legal clinic based in Chicago.

Founded in 2019, CPRC draws from a coalition of student volunteers throughout the Chicago area. Medical students manage the day-to-day operations of the clinic, and work in partnership with physicians, attorneys, and community members for expertise and oversight.

In addition to clinic work, CPRC also holds trainings for physicians and medical students to educate them on the role of healthcare providers in advancing justice in immigration and incarceration.

CPRC is a space for individuals to work in community to organize for justice. The current healthcare system is not politically neutral, nor is the immigration system, nor the criminal justice system. The Chicago People’s Rights Collaborative stands with survivors of abuse, in firm opposition against the forces that perpetuate and profit from immigration detention and mass incarceration.
