Board Roles

Co-Executive Director: The Co-Executive Directors work together to support day-to-day work throughout the clinic. They split up check-ins with the directors of individual teams and help steer the work of the clinic toward its mission and vision. They work with community partners to build out our network and help to recruit more cases and volunteers interested in supporting our work. They also manage any interns on the team. Co-Executive Directors give final approval for any major decisions regarding partnerships, funding, projects, and staffing.

Hours of commitment: 15 hrs/month with 1-year minimum commitment

Advanced

Director of Operations: The Director of Operations oversees operational spaces within CPRC, including finances, digital marketing, social media, graphic design, and digital recruitment, with the purpose of providing a more supportive role to the organization’s overall medical-legal mission. The director will manage operations volunteers to achieve goals within these settings and reports to the executive director(s).

Hours of commitment: 15 hrs/month with 1-year minimum commitment

Intermediate

Director of Affidavits: The Director of Affidavits oversees the asylum affidavits working group as a whole, including the coordinators, schedule managers, and affidavit volunteers. They are responsible for coordinating with outside organizations and legal teams to take on new affidavit requests. The director also serves as the point contact for clinical preceptors that conduct the affidavits and manages the working roster of active or available preceptors. As part of the larger organization of CPRC, the director of affidavits meets with the executive team and operations to recruit additional volunteers and assist with identifying and addressing any unmet needs. They also attend executive leadership meetings and communicate the status of affidavits and working group processes with leadership.

Hours of commitment: 15 hrs/month with 1-year minimum commitment

Director of Declarations: The Director of Declarations manages the declarations working group, which meets twice a month to coordinate declarations as well as educational and advocacy ventures. In addition, they will collaborate directly with clinic coordinators to ensure processes are going smoothly, liaison with executive board (attend all executive board meetings) and anticipate and address the needs of the working group and declarations volunteers. They also perform ongoing quality improvement and work alongside the MJA coordinator of the working group to collaborate with our community partners.

Affidavits Team Member: This role is for an asylum affidavits volunteer and may involve coordinating with outside organizations and legal teams, scheduling, and hosting educational sessions.

Advanced

Declarations Team Member: This role is for a general declarations team volunteer and may involve student and attending recruitment, educational session planning, community outreach, and quality improvement.

Intermediate

Operations Team Member: This role is for a general operations team volunteer and may involve social media management, building email newsletters, curating and growing an email listserv, finances, recruitment, web design, graphic design.
