The Chicago People’s Rights Collaborative’s Statement on the Ongoing Genocide in Palestine

In reminding of our mission as a medical-legal collaborative, we, The Chicago Peoples Collaborative, are firm in our commitment to the liberation of Palestine. As a collection of individuals seeking to preserve and sustain life through our creed, we envision a world free of all forms of oppression that conspire to sustain violence. This necessitates our commitment to all people suffering from the violence of occupation: here on Turtle Island, Puerto Rico, Guam, Cuba, Hawai’i, Congo, Sudan, Kurdistan, Kashmir, and further.

In our attempts to labor to affirm life, we reject all systems of prison, police, militarism, and exploitation that necessitates prioritizing profit over people. Our healthcare system is deeply complicit in this same investment of violence. We mourn the loss of all of our colleagues who have been brutally murdered by Israeli colonial engines of war. We uplift the call for a lasting ceasefire that puts a definitive end to the murders and halts the continued destruction of homes and communities.

We condemn our colleagues’ statements that reinforce the healthcare system’s complicity in this genocide, including falsely equating anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism. We want to be explicit about our stance on the freedom and liberation of all people, and encourage all of our membership to take this moment to learn and grow in this struggle to sustain life.

As Angela Davis says, being in principled solidarity means, “we stand with those who are striving to create conditions for the flourishing of life.” Please find this resource document from the Palestinian Youth Movement to learn and grow.

We also wanted to provide some resources for you to be able to get involved in resistance movements happening locally and globally.

In Solidarity,

The Chicago People’s Rights Collaborative
