Our Mission

The Chicago Medical Legal Collaborative (CMLC) equips clinicians and clinician-learners with the skills, relationships, and grounding to move between medical care, legal advocacy, and collective action in defense of life. Through community-centered forensic work, mentorship, and education,we support people impacted by social and political forces that disrupt health. We are building toward a future where this kind of practice is no longer rare—but a shared standard of how clinicians are trained, supported, and engaged in the world.

We have been formerly known as the Chicago People’s Rights Collaborative (CPRC).

Our Vision

We use this work as a launching point—not just to support individual cases, but to shape how clinicians practice medicine: as advocates, collaborators, and organizers. By experimenting with new ways of learning, showing up, and caring, we aim to model what liberatory clinical practice can look like—rooted in community, resisting disposability, and sustaining life.
